Norsewood Road Board.

At the usual monthly meeting of this Board ail the members were present. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence From Mr Hill, the School Inspector, pointing out that tho late re-survey of the Pforsewood Government township had slightly altered tho boundary of the school site and the addition to the school now in course of erection was encroaching on the public road. lie would like to ascertain the Hoard’s opinion in this matter, and, if possible, obtain its permission to leave tho buildings as at present. A long discussion ensued. Mr Saunders objected strongly to allow any public buildings on the public roads. Tho Chairman thought lucre would bo very little harm in allowing tho encroachment on this occasion, but would leave it in tho hands of the members. On putting it to tho meeting all the members were against the*, encroachment, except tho chairman. From Mr 11. Baker, supplying names of settlers in tho Maiaiuau Village Settlement. The clerk was instructed to enter tho names on the rale-roll. The chairman then brought up tho question of extending Olsen’s contract on the German line. Proposed by Mr Saunders, seconded by Mr Krickson, “ That Olson’s offer be accepted for extending his contract six chains at the same price as he now has.” Tenders were then opened for forming and metalling Yotinginau’s and Anderson’s Ngamoko Koad. (1) Youngmau’s Road.— A. B. Thoinessen, £1 10s per chain (declined); 11. A. Anderson, .£1 Ms (id per chain (accepted). (2) Anderson’s So ad.—A. Larsen, £1 10a per chain (declined) ; A. B. Thoincfseo, Cl Hs (accepted). Tho Chairman brought up again the question of putting a stop to tho straying of the settlers stock ou tho newly formed roads and strongly advised the Board to take decisive steps with respect to this nuisance. It was resolved that a notice should bo sent round to tho settlers stating that if the stock was allowed to trespass ou the roads any longer they would be impounded. The following accounts wore passed for payment : J. Harms £ls, for felling and clearing 17 chains ou Koad in B ock VI. As the next ordinary meeting would fall on Christmas day the Board decided to hold it ou Saturday, 18th December.
