ELECTION ENQUIRY.
(Before Capt. Preece, R.M .) On Tuesday evening the Resident Magistrate attended at the Court-house, Waipawa, for the purposo of hearing the petitions against the recent election of (1) a member of the Waipawa Town Board. (2) A Licensing Committee for the Norsewood District. (J) A Road Board for the Ormondville District. The hearing of tho two last cases was adjourned until June 10th, wlieti they will co.ne on in Ormondville. The Town Board election petition was called on. Mr Lougiman appeared for the petitioners. The Town Board and the elected member, Mr Collett, were not represented. Mr Loughnun stated that Mr Ben B. Jonnson, clerk to the Bourd was unfortunately abaeut from Waipawa, and through an uul'orheen circumstance l>e had not been able to t-uhpoena him ; and requested that an adjournment might be made. Mr Collett, iu reply to Ilis Worship said lie had no distance to come, and would not be iucouveuienced if the case was adjourned ; lie had not come there lo defend it, but only to listen. The case was therefore adjourned until the next Court day at Waipawa, viz., Juuo 3rd.
