“HANGING UP” THE COUNTIES ACT.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE WAITAWA MAIL.) Sir, —There is lot of talk just now about separating from the County of Waipawa. Woodville wants Danevirke, Pahiatua, and all the rest of us to help them in the matter, and then, say they, after separation we can “ hang up the County,” and the different Road Boards can be independent. Now, sir, some of us think this is a mighty fine idea for Woodville. They may lead us on to separation, and then we shall find that all the weight is at Woodville, and they will be so well pleased with themselves as a County that the “ hanging up” part will stand over indefinitely. If the Woodville agitators are sincere in
their wish for doing away with County mismanagement and reckless waste of money, why not help those who are laboring for that end ? But the course some of their local politicians are adopting looks “ fishy,” to say the least of it.—l am, <fcc., A. X. Danevirke, December 10.
