_ne Hoar'! met at 11 a.m. Trenent —The Rev. 1). Sidev, Messrs Harding, Williams and Tanner. In the absence of the chairman, the Eev. D. Sidey was voted to the chair. The following matters likely to bo of interest to our readers were brought before the Board : COBBEKPONDENCE. From Alisa A. M. Williams, expressing Miss Agues Down’s grateful thanks for the kind consideration shown her by the Board, and stating that after mature consideration she hail decided that it was her wisest course to retain her present position as pupil teacher at the native girls’ school and give up the scholarship.

The Board decided to refrain from granting the scholarship to any other of the candidates who competed, holding it over for further competition at the examination in February next.

From the Education Department, requesting the Board to call the attention of teachers to the examination to take place in March next. From the same, consenting to the sale of the East and West Clive school sites.

The secretary was instructed to enquire what is now being done by the committee with the buildings formerly used for school purposes at East and West Clive, and also to endeavor to ascertain what is the exact position of the titles to those sites.

From the Auckland .School Commissioners, forwarding £lB Is, proceeds of school reserves for primary education in Cook County.

From the Waipukurau School Committee, requesting that several matters required to be done to the school building should be seen to. The Board decided, in order that no time should be lost, that Air R. Harding and the Rev. Mr Fraser be authorised to get the matters arranged for. HASTINGS SCHOOL. Air Williams drew attention to the necessity of having the school site at Hastings fenced. The Board decided that the work should be done, and authorised Air Williams and Mr Well wood to accept tenders for the same. TE3VDKBS. A number of tenders were opened for the purchase from the Board of the school site and buildings at Hastings. The Board did not accept any tender, as none of them included ail the buildings, it being thought that the tenderers were under the misapprehension that tho teacher’s residence would be removed to another site and would not be included in the property to be sold. It was agreed that fresh tenders be invited for the school site and all buildings thereon. iccorxTs. A number of accouuts were passed f ir payment’ The Board then adjourned.
