London, October 15. The Ismyr is reported at Lloyds as missing.

October 16. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £19,500,000. News from Cape Town states that Sir Garnet Wolseley had interviewed a meeting of the Boers in the Transvaal, and announced the annexation of the territory they occupied. The Boers replied that independence alone would satisfy them. October 17. Best Australasian beef taUow, 35s per cwt., best Australasian mutton tallow, 36s fid per cwt. There have been large withdrawals of goM for Germany and North America. The Cape war is successfully completed. The troops have comm -need the evacuation of the territory of Zululand. Australian wheat, 60s 6d ; flour 42s 6d. October 18. At a Conservative meeting at Manchester the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs justified the policy of the Government in reference to the Afghan war, and stated that the principle was defeat, not domination. New York, October 16. The Agricultural Bureau’s monthly report states that the average of the crop in ten cotton States is 81 per cent. Calcutta, October 17. General Roberts has proclaimed the demolition of Boluhissa. October 18. Martial law has been proclaimed at CabuL An impressivo entry into Cabul was made by the British forces. General Roberts issued a proclamation stating that the city should be spared, but heavy fines would be imposed upon the inhabitants ; a general disarmament of the city and suburbs would take place, and prompt measures would be taken for the capturo of the mutineers. October 19. The Ameer Yakoob Khan lias resolved to abdicate. General Roberts has made provisonal arrangements for the administration of the Government. The Kuram tribes arc in a .great state of commotion. Constantinople, October 18. The pluses of the Balkans are at present unoccupied by the Turks, because the occupation of Nova Buvaar precluded Russian aggression on Turkish territory in that direction. If the rumors of the alliance between Germany and Austria are true the news will bo hailed with joy by all valuers of peace. The Ministry has resigned, and n new Ministry has been formed as follows : Said Rasim, Grand Vlzer ; Sawas Pasha, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mahomed Pasha, Minister of the Interior.
