INDOOR GAMES
BADMINTON, TABLE TENNIS ST. ANDREW'S SEASON. St. Andrew's Badminton and TableTennis Club brought a very enjoyable and successful season to a close on Tuesday last when the finals of each sport were played before a large attendance of interested visitors. Cups for ladies and men's singles were donated by Mr C. R. Haworth and Mrs B. Bromwich, while the handicap cohibines by Mr ■' i F.: Gardner. Some of the best game's of the season were witnessed in the badminton finals, R. Speedy winning the men's singles championship from C. Haworth in two straight sets to one. The men's doubles was a very strenuous one and keenly watched by the spectators. This was won from C. Haworth and B. Hulme by R. Speedy and J. Stewart. Ladies' doubles: Mrs Bromwich and Miss H. Clark defeated Misses J. Cummings and D. Hill. Combines handicap: R. Speedy and Miss H. Clark, beat B. Hulme and Miss J. Cummings.
In the table tennis there were some very interesting wins. This is a young club, the season being the first. Mr McMurray beat R. Speedy after a great game, results being D. McMurray 21-19, 19-21, 21-15. Ladies singles: Miss I. Sage beat Miss J. Coles 21-10, 21-18. Ladies doubles Misses H. Clark and, 11. Cummings beat Misses M. Webb and J. Cummings 25-23, 18-21, 25-23. Men's Doubles (Trophy donated by Mr N. Roberts): D. Mc Murray and V. Butler beat S. Phillip and N. Robson 217, 21-13. Combines: D. McMurray and D. Hill beat S. Phillip and H. Clark, 21-9, 21-17.
