Mr Lewis Issues a Courteous Challenge

“This is a courteous challenge to the young business men of Cambridge to seek the vacancy,” said Mr S. Lewis, at Wednesday night’s meeing of the borough council, when he intimated that he would not be a candidate at the forthcoming municipal elections in November. Mr Lewis pointed out that the next council meeting would be the last before the election. He offered the information that he would -not be standing in an endeavour to create more interest.

Mr Blackman’s reason for retiring is that he cannot afford to give the considerable amount of time such responsibility entails.
