DUKE STREET WIDENING

FULL WTDTH RECONSTRUCTION

ALTERATION TO PLANS

Referring, to the widening of Duke Street in his report to Wednesday night’s meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council, the engineer, Mr Neville Sanderson, stated that reconstruction had been deferred to avoid excessive disruption of traffic while awaiting the commencement of the sealing season. Main Highways Board’s restrictions in this direction applied from May 1 to September 30. The engineer added that application had been made for a variation of the Main Highways Board Authority, to substitute full width reconstruction and sealing for the original proposal, embracing widening half width. Authority had now been granted subject to the addition of light plant mix surfacing from kerb to kerb. ; The approximate increase in the cost would be £350.
