WOMEN'S INSTITUTE HORAHORA - MAUNGATAUTARI The July meeting of the HorahoraMaungatautari Women's Institute .was held at the Maungatautari.Hall. Mrs Hill presided over the meeting which opened with the reading of the Creed. Two representatives, Mrs Hill and Mrs Wright were appointed to attend a meeting of group members who propose to form plans for the improvement of conditions governing exhibits at the local shows. Several suggestions were submitted for consideration. A new overseas link member was chosen as the former one had been compelled •to resign her position. There was a good response when volunteers were called for the knitting of singlets for the Sunshine League in Hamilton. After much discussion it was decided to suggest to the Federation that something be done to help the outlying institutes. Members were asked to help supply food for the R.S.A. tearooms.

The roll call was "My Earliest Recollection" and many and varied were the stories recounted of days long gone by. Mrs Young gave the motto and Mrs A. Meeking read the Golden Thread. A presentation of a saving's book was made to the infant son of Mrs A. Parsons. A competition was won by Mrs A. Parsons.

The winners of the competitions were: Knitting, Mrs Edge 1, Mrs Currie 2: basket vegetables, Mrs Currie 1, Mrs Budge 2; best bloom, large, Mrs A. Parsons 1, Mrs Currie 2,' small Mrs Budge 1, Mrs Hill 2; floral brooch Mrs Hill 1, Mrs Young 2.
