RUGBY REFEREES ENTERTAIN MEMBERS FROM' OVERSEAS In the Oddfellows’ Hall on Saturday last members of the Cambridge Rugby Referees’ Association tendered a social evening, as the official welcome home to its five members who have returned from oversea^— Messrs H. Kirkm&n, J Miller, C. iHadley, L. C. Bear, and J. Cameron. / Visitors present"included representatives from ti e Waikato Rugby Union, Cambrid ;e Union, the Waikato Refere !s’ Association, Cambridge Bowling Club, and the Cambridge Cricket Association. < / The president of the Cambridge Association, Mr D. E. Scott, presided and, in a capable address of welcome to the returned men, said it was his pleasure to include in the welcome the names of Messrs D. S. B. Heather, A. Gillies and of Hamilton,, A. Lawrie, Matamata, and C. Hirst, Putaruru. The honour of life membership was conferred on the local men. Each •man gave a brief account of his experiences, and irrtpressions while abroad. The following toasts were honoured: The King, Returned Members, Waikato Rugby Union, Waikato Rugby Referees, Cambridge Rugby Union, Cambridge Rugby .Referees, The Ladies, Kindred Sports, The Artists, The President (Mr Scott). Musical items items by Messrs C. Thompson, J. Barlett, and H. R. Davies, with Mr J. D. Baker as accompanist, were well received. An excellent supper was served and the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a most enjoyable evening to a close at midnight.
