GIRL GUIDES

NOTES FOR WEEK (By “Scribe”) Owing to unfortunate circumstances Captain was unable to be present at the weekly meeting held last Saturday. At two o’clock the company was assembled for roll call and inspection. lieutenant took inspection of fingernails and general appearance, after which the patrol leaders had a quarter of an hour patrol corners. Several vigorous games followed during which the Guides got “warmed up,” and as the Guides wanted % get away early so as they could get everything ready for the Scout evening “horseshoe” was formed at 3.30 instead of 4 p.m. While the Guides were thus assembled Lieutenant asked if the girls had noticed anything wrong in the hall. After many wild guesses the Guides had to give in and Lieutenant informed them that the Union Jack wa's flying upside down, so the Patrols missed' 10 marks. After the Guide prayer hud been said and taps sung the company was dismissed. At seven o’clock the Guides and Scouts assembled at the Oddfellows’ Hall, where an evening of dancing was held. A Monte Carlo was won by Barbara Worthing and partner. The revenge worked beautifully and we have plenty more in store, so be warned. At 10 o’clock horseshoe was again formed and after prayers and the singing of “taps” the Scouts and Guides wended their various ways homeward.
