KARAPIRO HYDRO SUCCESSFUL DANCE (Ow r n Correspondent) f A verv successful dance was held n the Y.M.C.A. Hall at Karapiro dydro last Thursday. The dance was sponsored by the Karapiro Cricket Club and the proceeds were donated to the Cambridge Red Cross Society. Over 150 people were present and the programme was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The social committee responsible for the dance are deserving of the highest praise for the organising and donations of the funds to such a worthy cause. The Monte Carlo was won by Mrs L. T. Sabini and Mr H. R. Davies. The lucky spot by Mrs MacNee and Mr R. A. Jeson. The second Monte Carlo by Miss M. Searancke and Mr Ken Taute. Mrs W. Mannering was responsible for a fine performance in a Rarotongan hula. The proceeds of the dance, £9 10s, were handed to a member for the Cambridge Red Cross Society by Mr E. Tasker, chairman of the karapiro Cricket Club. The music was provided by Mowat’s orchestra and extras wrere provided by Mr K. West (piano accordeon) and Mrs-* Wharepouri (piano). * CAUGHT BY MACHINE. ACCIDENT IN PLUMBERS’ SHOP. (Own Correspondent.) While working a folding machine in the plumbers’ shop at Karapiro Hydro on Saturday last, Mr J. Slight had the misfortune to injure a finger when it was caught, the finger bleeding profusely. He was rendered first aid by the resident, nurse and a member of the St. John Ambulance. Later it was necessary for the injured man to go to the'Waikato Hospital for the night returning home next morning. He is not yet back at work.
