EXCESS PROFITS TAX

FARMERS VOICE PROTEST A further protest against farmers being required to contribute to the proposed Excess Profits Tax, was raised at the monthly meeting of the Cambridge Branch of the Farmers' Union on Friday. It was definitely agreed that farmers should be exempt, in view of the fact that farmers had been asked to increase the production of foodstuffs as a special war effort. There was some chance of clauses in the Act being altered in favour of farmers, according to a statement made at the meeting. This was considered to be the result of protests made* by the farming community. ■'.■:••«'
