NOT A CAMBRIDGE
LABOUR DAY RACES COURSE NOT AVAILABLE The annual race meeting of the Waikato Hunt on Labour Day will ,nbt be held at Cambridge as in the past, owing to the course being required as a military camp. The committee held an emergency meeting on Monday evening to discuss the position. The Ist Battalion of thfe Waikato Regiment will encamp at the racecourse on October 1. It was thought at first that arrangements could be made for the races to be held as usual on Labour Day, but the alterations necessary to the buildings have made that impossible. A large gang of carpenters has been engaged for several days turning the bars into mess-rooms, and adjusting the tbtalisator house and stand buildings for use as administrative quarters. Subject to the military authorities being able to make satisfactory arrangements to vacate portion of Te Rapa racecourse on Labour Day, and with the approval of the Auckland District Racing Committee and the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Waikato Racing Club has kindly offered the use of its course free of charge. Finality will be reached within a few days. The Hunt committee lias decided that after allowing for the expenses incurred during the season, the proceeds of the race meeting will be devoted to patriotic purposes. Training may be carried out on the Camrbidge track as usual, except that operations must be completed by 9.30 a.m.-
