TUDOR THEATRE
A DOUBLE PROGRAMME Elisabeth Bergner has the greatest part —or parts, for she appears in a dual role—of her career in “Stolen Life/* which her husband, Dr Paul Czinijer, has produced and directed, and which will be screened at the Tudpr Theatre tonight and on. Monday. The dual role offers her opportunities for drama and comedy, and although played by the same actress the two characterisations are of an entirely different nature, as will be seen when the picture is presented. Co-starring with Miss Bergner is Michael Redgrave, and also in the cast are Wilfred Lawson, Richard Ainley, Mabel Terry Lewis, Clement McAllin and Kenneth Buckley. Jackie Cooper and Freddie Bartholomew wear the smart uniforms of military school cadets for costarring roles in “Spirit of Culver,” which will be shown on the same programme. In addition to many dramatic and comedy scenes, the picture is highlighted by colourful parades and the gaiety of school life. Popular stars in the cast include Andy Devine, Henry Hull, Tim Holt, Gene Reynolds, Jackie Moran, Walter Tetley, Kathryn “Sugar” Kane and Marjorie Gateson. The story concerns itself with surprising events in the life of a boy who is plucked from a breadline and given a chance to prove himself at Culver Military Academy. Cooper, as the boy who is reformed by his fellow cadets, and Bartholomew as his English roommate, are seen in dramatic roles which are said to match their finest achievements of the past.
