WRONG NUMBER-PLATE

WOMAN MOTORIST’S OFFENCE VIEWED WITH SERIOUSNESS Isabelle Little, married, of Okoroire, was charged in the Cambridge Court on Thursday with affixing to her motor car a numberplate which had not been, assigned to the vehicle, and was likely to be mistaken for the proper number. Constable C. H. Maisey stated that Eric Beer, a farmer, had complained to him that he had lost 0 number-plate from his car. Later when defendant’s car was in Cambridge, the Constable noticed that it had only one number-plate and investigation showed that this plate was the one that Mr Beer had reported losing. When questioned, defendant admitted that she had borrowed the plate from Mr Beer’s car. She had sinced caused considerable trouble in having the case finalised. Constable Maisey pointed out the seriousness of the position from the angle of third party insurance in the event of an accident.

Defendant was fined £2 10/- and a similar amount on a further charge arising from the same set of circumstances.
