WEDNESDAY r February 7 The motor vessel Munster, of 4302 tons was sunk in the Irish Channel as a result of an explosion. All the passengers and crew were saved. THURSDAY February 8— Australia announced that the Commonwealth Government would spend £25,000,000 on aircraft construction and maintenance in the next two and a half years. * * # The Russians maintained pressure on a 15-mile sector of the Mannerheim Line, but their only gain was about 14 miles on a small part of the line. # # #= Rumania, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Turkey reported to be placing their armies on a war footing and augmenting their troops. # *■ # On the Western Front, lively exchanges of fire took place between infantry manning the casemates of the Seigfried and Maginot fortifications. FRIDAY February 9 Turkish marines occupied the German-owned Krupp shipyards on the Golden Horn.
