APPEAL FOR INCREASE WAIKATO BISHOP SPEAKS OUT An appeal to parishes to consider increasing their vicars’ stipends by 33 1/3 per cent w'as made in a letter from the Bishop of Waikato (the Rt. Rev. C. A. Clierrington), which was read at the annual meeting of parishioners of St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton. “The office of the Hamilton deanery is the worst paid of any in New Zealand,” said the Bishop, in speaking of the letter. “The clergy in New Zealand are so poorly paid that it is difficult for us to pay our way. I tell you plainly that we cannot go on.”
