Chard—Six for 46 arid three for 11. R. Morriss —Five for 28. L. McKinnon —Five for 70. - E. Chard —Four for 63 and three for 6.

High School, strengthened by the presence of R. Morriss, assumed a commanding lead of six points in the championship by their defeat of Wanderers last Saturday.’ It is thought that the association may now close the competition and declare High School the winners. There have been so many interruptions this season, and with the show falling on Saturday week, there are only two clear Saturdays before Easter.

A plan is to have a knock-out competition for a special trophy, and as there is not likely to be any cricket after Easter, this will conclude the Saturday before. High School showed much better batting form on Saturday and in their* total were five double-figure contributors. Muller, who has been showing consistent hatting form of late, gave a very sound display for 61. which included 6 fours.

T. Kerr hatted in merry style and hit 5 fours and a six in a score oi 31. Boyce gave another attractive display for 27, while Broderson collected another useful score oi 24.

L..McKinnon, although expensive, secured most wipkets of the Wanderers’ trundlers, his figures being five for 70.

In Wanderers’ second innings N. McKinnon was the only batsman who went for the bowling, and he was successful by these tactics in making 35 out of a total ot 57.

Morriss worried most of the Wanderers with his accurate spin bowling, and he captured live for 28 oh 9 overs for 2 maidens. The High School fielding was again excellent and their work in this department has been of a high standard this year. In the other match Hughes added another 23 to his previous week’s, score and was unbeaten with 84. He played a forceful innings , bing chiefly responsible for putting bis side ahead on the first innings. Ed. Chard gave a fine bowling performance for his side, keeping a good length throughout his 15 overs for 2 maidens in taking six for 46. Colts, as in the first strike, produced some even scoring, the principal run-getter being Hubbard, who batted in sound fashion for 40. E. Chard and M. Woolley both had oad luck in being run out at 26 each, when going well., Ed. Chard, 22 and Kilmore 23 both shaped Well and put on 40 between them. The City bowlers had a hard task, most success corning to Humphf-ibs and Litchwarki wb° took two for 36, and two for 51 respectively. W

The wickets fell in startling fashion in City’s second visit to the crease, W. Munroe defending stolidity for 13 not but. The Chard brothers were mostly responsible tor the collapse, E. Chard taking three for 11 and Ed. Chard three for 6.
