“MARRY THE GIRL” JOYOUS COMEDY FARCE “Marry the Girl,” the picturisation of the famous Aldwych farce, is one of the most joyous entertainments of its kind to emanate from a British film studio. Cambridge picturegoers may see this film this evening and to-morrow evening, or at a matinee both. ((ays. Adapted from the farcical comedy by George Arthur and Arthur Miller, the screen version of “Marry,, the Girl” is the work of Kathleen Butler and Maclean Rogers. The story concerns a young man-about-town who, after becoming engaged, indulges in one final fling with an old flame, and lands himself in a breach of promise suit. A brilliant array of comedy stars lend added distinction to this delightful comedy. Sonnie Hale, who is perhaps the screen’s most polished and popular comedian, is seen as the hero, while Winifred Shotter as his former love, Judy Kelly as his fiancee, and Hugh Wakefield as a philandering barrister fill the other important roles. Prominent in the supporting cast are Amy Veness, Kenneth Kove, Wally Patch and John Dcverell. “Escape Me Never” A play that has shattered all records at the London Pavilion in New York, has been produced as a superlative talkie. It is “Escape Me Never,” starring Elizabeth Bergner, which will be screened on Thursday and Friday, and at a matinee on both days. > \ “Escape Me Never” is a production of extraordinary distinction, presenting beautiful settings and very fine actin. Elizabeth Bergner gives an unforgettable performance in this emotional drama. Week-end Attraction A story that traces a course from heart-rending pathos to the gayest comedy , punctuated with lilting songs and dancing feet, is given by nine-year-old Jane Withers, featured in “This Is the Life,” which comes to the Town Hall Theatre on Saturday and Monday next. In “This Is the Life,” which is set in the glamour of the theatre, Jane Withers plays her most dramatic role as a child performer who yearns to be just a “regular guy” and travels the road from riches to rags to achieve that desire.
