CRICKET
PLAY FOR SATURDAY CONCLUSION OF SECOND ROUND , The second round of the Cambridge Cricket Association’s championship will conclude on Saturday when the final series, commenced last Saturday, will be decided. High School will continue against City on the High School wicket, while Leamington and United services will be engaged at the Square. The Prospects Unless either team collapses it is doubtful whether the game at the High School will be won outright, but High School, with nine wickets still in hand and only 41 runs from City’s first knock total, should have little difficulty in gaining a win on the first innings. Chances of an outright win are not remote, however, and should School compile a large total, City will need to bat soundly, and each batsman bear a larger share of the responsibility. The match should produce an interesting second-day’s cricket. The result of the LeamingtonUnited Services match will most likely favour Leamington, who have so far failed to win a single match. Services, after displaying splendid form in the earlier matches of the second round, failed last Saturday, and are faced with a deficit of 99 runs and only five wickets remain to fall. Country Draw The Country Cricket Competition will be advanced a further stage on Saturday. The draw for play is: Bruntwood A v. Roto-o-rangi, at Roto-o-rangi; Fencourt v. Bruntwood B, at Bruntwood. Whitehall have drawn a bye. The result of the Whitehall-Brunt-wood A game played last Saturday at Whitehall, proved a win for the home team by 5 runs.
