Harvest Thanksgiving.—At St. Andrew’s Church on Sunday harvest thanksgiving service will be held throughout the day. The choir will render the anthem, “He Watereth the Hills” at Evensong, and Miss Maud Giles will be the soloist. New Zealand Butter.— There is no material change in prices for New Zealand butter and cheese on the London market. Merchants report that New Zealand butter is at 95/to 96/-, and cheese 53/- to 53/6 (white) and 57/- to 57/6 (coloured). Danish butter is at 125/-.

Midland Hotel Sold.—The Midland Private Hotel, which has been managed under lease for the past four years by Mrs G. T. Wilkins, has been sold. The house will be taken over by Mr and Mrs C. Banlield, proprietors of the Yukon Hotel, of Auckland, and former residents of Cambridge.

Rare Tennis Court. —The rarity ot playing tennis under cover will be enjoyed by the international players Henri Cochet, of France, and the Willard Brothers, of Australia, when they stage exhibition matches in the Bledisloe Hall in Hamilton this evening. It is claimed that there is no other hall in the southern hemisphere with sufficient length, breadth and height to enable a full court with ample back-play to be laid out. Preparation for Exams —Last year candidates for the matriculation (entrance) examination totalled 5100 compared with 4984 in 1925. llie Senate’s responsibility was great, and included the appointment of examiners and of supervisors, printing of examination papers, drawing up time-tables, making arrangements for places for holding the examinations, considering and recording reports of examiners, declaring examination results, issuing certificates, diplomas, and so forth. Damage by Storm. —An official survey of the damage caused to roads and bridges in the Waikato County during last week’s storm was given by the engineer, Mr A. A. Woodward, at a meeting of the council on Tuesday. He reported that six roads had been damaged and four bridges washed away, the cost of their replacement being estimated at £2750. Included in the damage was the Tahuroa Road, Te Miro, where extensive slips accurred. These have not yet been removed.
