A NEW EXECUTIVE

MANAGING-DIRECTOR FOR DAIRY. COMPANY? CONSIDERATION DEFERRED At yesterday's annual meeting of the Cambridge Dairy Company a motion of Messrs H. P. Hewitt and J. S. Fisher, as. a recommendation, was before the meeting that the directors consider the appointment of a managing director for the company. Mr Hewitt said it was necessary to face facts. The company was up against trained men and needed someone on an equal footing. Mr F. H. Anderson said the matter had been first discussed in 1914 and considered on many occasions since. He thought the company was large enough to warrant the employment of a trained man. Mr Anderson assured the meeting that he would not accept the position as had been suggested in some quarters.

Mr Harbutt thought it might be wise to defer the matter for twelve months. He had assurance that selling methods in London would be altered. There were no complaints about the production costs of the company. Mr M. Wells also considered that with present marketing arrangements the appointment of a managing director would be of little advantage. An amendment was carried that the matter be considered by the board, and referred to the next annual meeting.
