CALF CLUB

THE ANNUAL MEETINGTHIRD YEAR COMMENCED The annual meeting of the, Cambridge Calf Club was: held in the Power Board Building yesterday afternoon, when Mr R. Mr Wattam spqke of the great help given by Waikato Central Show and the local press. A grant of £5 had been received from the Department of Agriculture, and the club had funds on which;- to work. ‘ ' * Earlier Start Next Year Mr McKenzie said he thought it might be advisable next year to make the starting day of the competition a fortnight earlier. The Waikato cows were calving earlier and many good calves would be ineligible for competition if the date remained on August 1. It *was decided that 1 next year the competition be for calves born on or after July 15. Rearing Competition It. was agreed that chairmen of school committees be asked to arrange for the marking of calves as soon as possible after the closing day for entries (to-day). Judging will be on the same lines as last year, firstly at the schools the first week in December, and then at the Waikato Central Agricultural Assoeia-. tion’s Show. Messrs J. S. Fisher and A. E. Peppercorn were appointed judges On. the Cambridge side of the river and Messrs R. Wattam and W. C. Wallace on the Leamington side. Note books must be in the hands of Mjr McKenzie on or -before November 16. -
