Several concessions have already been made to the men. On Saturday morning, Mr X D. Wit' liams, officer-in-charge of the Taupm swamp scheme, discussed, with, the tusa the several privileges they sought. It was decided to accede to their requests, for a telephone, a first-aid outfit and an improved water supply. Mr Williams offered to increase the rate ofi payment by 4d per yard, but the menrejected this on the 'grounds that ft. did not place them on the same basra as that operating at Mangawara. . A deputation from the camp wafted' upon Mr M. J. Savage, Leader of the .Opposition, at the Frankton railways last evening and placed theft" case before him.
