DISTRICT CRICKET
OPENING OF THE SEASON.
WHITEHALL BEAT P. AND T.
Considerably increased interest promises to be shown in cricket in the Cambridge district this season. Last year there was quite a definite improvement in the matter of general enthusiasm towards the game, the increased interest, being particularly noticeable in the outlying districts.
For the first season for many years Cambridge is now to have an association affiliated to the Waikato Cricket Association, and will run a local competition. Successful meetings have been held and on Saturday a number of members were busy at Victoria Square preparing the grounds and pitches. District cricket has already commenced. During the week-end the P. and T. team visited Whitehall and played an enjoyable match, the homo side winning a two-innings match by
35 runs. Details were as follows: WHITEHALL—First Innings. Laing, b Noddcr > . • <J McCollum, b Chard • . 2 B.
