Pipe-smoking is on the increase in Auckland, according to a recent contributor to a local daily. “There has” he wrote, “been a definite revival of ]:‘po smoking here, and the increasing use of pipes is to be remarked among men of all ages.” True for you, Sir! —and if you had said the revival was not confined to Auckland you wouldn’t have been far out. Nothing like a good old briar for solid comfort! But. choose your tobacco with discrimination, and whatever you do avoid brands over-rich in nicotine. Their name is legion, unfortunately! Practically all imported brands arc included. If you want brands that are O.K. go for the New Zealand! They arc the world’s purest, and for flavour and aroma hold pride of place! Their comparative freedom from nicotine is owing to their being toasted. This is a somewhat elaborate and costly process. But it’s worth while! Only four brands, remember, of the genuine Toasted Tobacco: R-iverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish and Cut Plug No. 10.*
