NEW TOWN CLERK
PATEA APPLICANT APPOINTED. SIXTY APPLICATIONS. A special meeting of the Borough Council/was held last evening to consider the sixty applications received for the position of Town Clerk and Returning Officer, rendered vacant by the recent resignation of Mr F. R. Watters, following on his appointment as assistant clerk to the Napier Borough Council. 'The Mayor (Mr C. H. Priestley) presided over a full council. The applications from all parts of the Dominion were received at length, the council’s final choice falling on Mr Frank T. Ray, clerk of the Patca Borough Council. Three or four applications were received from the South Island, one being from Invercargill. The successful applicant is 30 years of ago and is a married man with two children. He is the possessor of exccd-lc-nt credentials, and has been in his present position for 64 years. Prior to that he was clerk to the Ngaruawahia Borough Council. Mr Ray will arrive in Cambridge about January 9, and Mr Watters will leave for Napier a few days later.
