Mr Frank T. Ray, clerk to the Pat-oa Borough Council, has been appointed to a similar position locally. Mr F. Lyc,'M.P., left Cambridge last night for Wellington on a short business visit Mr Ophir Tristram, of Hamilton, has been appointed operator for the “talkies” at Otorohanga. Mr S. R. James lias been appointed secretary to the local Bowling Club, following on the resignation of Mr F. R. Watters. Hon. 11. Atmorc, Minister of Education, will visit Te Awamutu on Thursday next, when lie will open a new school building. The death has occurred, at Christchurch, of the Hon. John Barr, M.-L.C-, at the age of 63 years. He was DeputySpeaker of tlid Legislative Council. , Miss Cubis, of the local telephone exchange staff, has been away for several weeks on sick leave. After undergoing treatment at Rotorua she has much benefited in health, and has now resumeddicr duties. Sir Otto Niemeyer, of the Bank of England, has arrived at Victoria, British Columbia.
