BIG DECLINE IN EXPORTS. ANOTHER HEAVY FALL LAST?;.. J MONTH. The decline of over £2,000,000 in the value of exports in January has been followed by a further fall of £2,430,000 in February, with the result that exports for the two months total £12,003,000 as against £16,506,000 last year. Imports in February were £289,000higher than last year, but as the Janu" ary total was £128,000 less, the net increase for the two months is only £162,000. The value of exports in February isreturned as £5,624,836. Comparison with last year's total should be qualified by the fact that it was exceptionally large, £8,056,083. The month had only once before produced over £8,000,000 of exports—in 1925, when the total was £8,336,263. In 1928, the valuation was £7,842,822. This year the figure for the month, while much below those for 1929 and 1928, exceeds the corresponding returns in 1928 and 1926. Imports in February were entered at £3,968,218, as against £3,678,543 lastyear. As recently as 1925 and 1926 over £4,000,000 of imports were returned in February.
