PERSONAL.
A cable message announces the death of Prince Max Badin. The many friends of Mr and Mrs J. Davis, of Princes Street, will learn with regret that, at present both their young children are seriously ill. Mr Frank Ansell, publicity manager for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films, who has been spending a few weeks in Waikato, has returned to Wellington. Mr R. D. Fisher, of Monavale, left for Christchurch last evening by the Limited. He expects to return on Wednesday. Advice has been received by her relatives in Cambridge that Nurse G. Bertelsen, of King George’s Hospital, Rotorua, has passed one of her qualifying examinations with honours. At the Cambridge Methodist circuit meeting, held on Tuesday night, a hearty and unanimous invitation was extended to Rev. J. W. Parker to remain in the circuit for another year. Several speakers expressed the opinion that Rev. Parker was just the man for the work in Cambridge. He had filled his position most ably, and had done splendid work during his three years’ terms here. At the same time, feeling reference was made to Mr Parker’s long and trying illness, and pleasure expressed at the signs of considerable improvement of late. It was confidently hoped Mr Parker would, in the New Year, be able to resume his duties and carry on even more successful work than in the past. Rev. Parker thanked the meeting for their unanimous expression of confidence in him, and said he would be pleased, subject to approval of ence, to accept same. Mr Parker sarohe felt his best work yet remained to be done in the circuit.
