FARMERS’ UNION

THE CAMBRIDGE BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Clubrooms yesterday, when the President (Mr. H. Watkins) presided over a small attendance, Annual Dinner. The President reported that, owftig to the prevalence of influenza and sickness generally it was agreed that the annual re-union be postponed’. Several of the speakers arranged for had advised that they would not be present. After a little discussion it was decided that the re union be shelved for the present year, the President suggesting that the fixture be held early in. May next year. Farm School. The President reported on the winter farm school held in Cambridge recently, and it was decided that a hearty vote of'thanks be forwarded to the Agricultural Department for organising the school at Cambridge and expressing the hope that the would be an annual event. Visit of Southern Farmers. Mr. Watkins reported on the recent visit of Canterbury farmers and their wive's and friends to this district. Hearty thanks were extended to all who had assisted in catering, and in the matter of transport. Lectures. Dr. H. E. Annett, of Matangi, replied that he would be pleased to accede to the branch’s request to give an address to the members, upon his return from Australia. The Agricultural Department, Hamilton, advised that Mr. Dayus was at present away, but on his return thb matter of giving a lecture at Cambridge would be considered. Resignation.Mr. W. Nickle, Roto-o-rangi, wrote, tendering his resignation. Accepted with regret. Accounts. Accounts amounting to £6/11/- were passed for payment. The Secretary reported a credit balance of £52/10/-. Women’s Division. The Secretary, Women's Division, wrote, stating‘that the branch would be willing to meet on the same day as the Farmers’ Union, provided their meeting could be held at 1 p.m. The Union resolved to offer no objection to the arrangement.
