THE WEATHER. ! (From Our Own Correspondent.) Vory unsettled weather has prevailed here for'the past week, but as far as can be ascertained ho damage has been done by the high wind, lightning,' or the sharp earthquake shocks felt here at 6.45 on Wednesday evening. FARMING. Early lambs are making their appearance on some farms, and within a fortnight young lambs will become a com J mon sight in the district. A number of dairy-farmers here are this season making a change over to sheep. SOCIAL NEWS. ■ Mrs. Meeking and family are ondf > day in Auckland. Mr. A. G. Reece, who has been in charge of Maungatautari No. 2 School, has been posted to the To Aroha district, and loaves at the end of the present week.
