FIRE BRIGADE

LONG NIGHT DANCE. ■ ' MEETING OF CITIZENS. The annual meeting of the committee? for the Long Night Dance tendered by the citizens to the local Fire Brigadewas held in the Council Chamber last evening. The Mayor (Mr T. F. Bicfcv ards) occupied the cimir, and there were also present: Messrs Edgar James, F. Thomason, S. E. James, G. Drew, A. W. Gane, W. Osborne, G. A. Clark, F. Green, H. Ferguson, H. Vause and W. K. Reeve. Apologies were received from Messrs Posscnniskio, Penn and Boulton. It was decided to hold this function on Thursday, 23rd inst., the prices of admission to be, ladies 3s, gents 4s—the same as last year. Mr Reeve was appoiited secretary and Mr W. Wilkinson treasurer, while all present were elected as a committee with power to add to their number. Messrs A. W. Gane, H. Vause and F* Green were appointed masters of ceremony. A very hearty vote of thanks teas accorded to the ladies' committee for' their splendid efforts and the results obtained in the past. Their assurance of continued support for the coming function was received with hearty acclamation. The dance will bo held 'on similar lines to those held annually in past years —functions which have been looked upon as one of the happiest gather' ings of the year. The chairman thanked all present for their attendance, and solicited their hearty support of the annual effort, which was for a most worthy cause.
