Arising out of a recommendation from the annual meeting the territory for tbe newly formed Kaipaki Club was discussed and finally it was resolved that the president, Mr Geo. House (secretary, Kaipaki Club) and the secretary, be a deputation to wait on the Waipa Union at its next meeting, with a view to arriving at an amicable arrangement. The Kaipaki Club wrote applying for affiliation as a junior. The letter also stated that in all probability a thirdgrade team would also be entered. Mr -T. Wallis said they were almost assured of a third-grade team. On tiie motion-of Messrs Thomas and Bourke it was resolved that Kaipaki's affiliation be accepted, and that as suggested maroon be adopted as the club's colours. Third-Jgrade Competition. Mr Prichard brought forward several suggestions for the operation of the third-grade competition, and after discussion it was decided that three rounds be played, the first round to commence on Saturday, May 20.
It was further agreed that all players in the third-grade competition must register before the first round commences.
The following motion was also moved by Mr Prichard and seconded by Mr Harris: That there be no weight limit for players under 18 years of age on May 1; players must, if 18 years of age or over on May 1, weigh not more than lOst (as they play) when officially weighed in prior to their first match.
The matter brought forward considerable discussion Mr Keeley being strongly of opinion that if the age limit was 18 ft would cripple some of the clubs. He favoured a straight out weight limit.
Mr Keeley's remarks were supported by Mr Hall, who moved as an amendment, and it was seconded by Mr Windsor, that there be a weight'limit only and that it be 9st slbs. An amendment by Mr Hodgson that there be a weight limit only of lOst 7lbs lapsed for want of a seconder. Mr Prichard remarked that if the second amendment was carried about 12 players would be cut out of the school team. On being put to the meeting the amendment was lost and Mr Pilchard's motion was carried. It was further decided on the suggestion of Mr Prichard that the Waikato river be the boundary between Leamington and City for third-grade players. Reference was made to the good work of Mr W. R. Edwards in the interests of the third-grade competition last season, and it was unanimously resolved to again invite Mr Edwards to act as manager of the competition. Caretaker. The'appointment of a caretaker was left in the hands of Mr Hall and the secretary. General. The president and secretary were authorised to operate on the bank account.
