WORKS AND MAINTENANCE "". ENGINEER'S REPORT. The engineer (Mr H. C. Oaten) reported as follows at the monthly meeting- of the Power Board on Friday:— Owing to the writer's absence from last meeting, this report covers two months "work and the additions arc as shown: — Borough, 506,. increase of 3; Leamington, .112, increase of 1; milking motors, 253, increase of 2; Country lighting, 421, increase of 3; water heaters, 302, increase of 19; ranges, 88, increase of 2. In addition there were added two pumps and one community light. Total consumers now number 1104 an increase *f 9 for the period. ! Tests and Inspections: For the period ' -under review 46 tests and inspections ■were made and 37 meters installed. . Linesmen: This department has been , busy on services and pole work, and "has quite a lot of similar work on hand •at present. Transformers: The 50 k.v.a. transformer at Williams and Grosvc or Street corner is now installed and the 37i k.v.a. removed is being overhauled prior to installation at Clare and Hall Streets. ■ - * Extension: An application is to hand from Mr Pickering, Tamahere, for an . .exten.sjon to serve his farm. The cost ■will be £s)l, requiring a minimum return of £lB. per year. The requirements of Mr Pickering will more than cover this. Another small extension requiring one mile 7-16 T.B. is requested, the >;ost being £4O. As the revenue from § the consumer will be between £2O and •: £3O, this 'also will pay. Your consent ■ to these extensions and materials is rc--4 quired. -Amplications arc still coming in for milking motors and water heaters, and business still shows signs of keeping up.
