BOUNDARIES

FOR CAMBRIDGE FOOTBALL. DISCUSSED BY SUB-COMMITTEE. The provision of boundaries for. the Cambridge football district this season was further discussed on Tuesday everting by the special sub-committee set up at the recent annual meeting of the union.

In opening the discussion, tho president (Mr W. Milburn) said the question they had to consider was whether they were going to define strict boundaries or the division of the districts on general lines. He thought it was quite possible to secure a fourth senior team without setting down hard and fast boundaries for the respective clubs already in existence. Mr W. Webber thought it advisable to first ascertain from the Karapiro delegate the prospects of that district providing a senior team. Mr W. E. May (Karapiro) said Karapiro could not possibly put in a team of its own, but they could get a team if they were given some assistance. If they could have the Eoto-o-rangi district they were certain of getting a senior fifteen.

Mr E- Webber (Leamington) said the committee must cut out all idea of giving Eoto-o-rangi to Karapiro. If they did there would still only be three teams.

Air May: We only want assistance, and it need not necessarily be from Eoto-o-rangi. They were prepared to receive players from anywhere so long as they could get together a senior fifteen. Air E. Webber suggested that the Karapiro Club /be comprised of players from Karapiro and all that part of, the Matamata County down to a line across the Waikato river and continuing along to the east side of the Pukekura hills. This would leave out Pukekura and Eoto-o-rangi, which Leamington must retain if they were going to get out a senior and junior team. At this stage the discussion drifted round to the (regrading of juniors, the president strongly advocating the grading up of qualifying juniors. In this direction he thought the clubs should be loyal to the union in its desire to promote better senior football. Then again it should be appreciated that there wove a number of thirdgrade players waiting to play junior grade and he thought room should be made for these players, who, whilethirds to-day, would bo the seniors of the morrow. There were several thirdgrade players 'just, itching to play junior grade and this should be the attitude of juniors towards the senior grade.

At this stage a letter was read trom Tauwhare stating that the Tauwhare juniors were prepared to join up witn Cambridge this year if boundaries were adopted.

Air Iveeley said he had been given to understand that Tauwhare were only prepared to come in with a junior team. Ho did not think it fair to ask Karapiro to put in a senior team.

The president strongly advocated four senior and four junior teams this season, rather than live junior ana three senior. Their objective was to improve. Rugby in the district and particularly the senior competition. It was essential that they should have a fourcornered competition. Mr Milbiun said it was only a matter of a little enthusiasm. If they did not attempt something they would not achieve anything. He saw little difficulty in the Way of organising an eastern districts club, comprising Karapiro, Tauwhare and all Maungatautari. If Karapiro and i’auwhare .would amalgamate he thought they would have little difficulty in getting a senior and a junior team.

Mr Alay said that Karapiro would be prepared to link up with Tauwhar *. The president congratulated that Karapiro players on the sporting spirit shown and the evident desire Do assist the union.

It was pointed out that nearly all the clubs were putting up some juniors this season to get out a senior team. , The president said that if Karapiro and Tauwhare were prepared to amalgamate, a boundary for an eastern districts club could be defiued that would not interfere with the present club’s territory. Probably it would not be necessary to define strict ‘ boundaries for Hautapu, Leamington and City. After further discussion it was resolved that a sub-eommitteo be not up consisting of the president and Alessrs A. Alontgomery and E. Webber, to wart on the Tauwhare and Karapiro players this week and endeavour to 'arrange for a combined club between these two districts, the committee to report to a. further meeting on Alotdav evening next.
