BOWLING

WEDNESDAY’S GAMES. - 1.--The following are the results of games played on the local green yesterday afternoon: — Hart, Hooker, Hague (s) 20 v. It-. Fisher, Ward, S. R. James (s) 15. G. E. Clark, O/Toole, Butler (a) .28 v. Blackburne, Cowling, Cooper (s). 24. Smith, Harris and.iMclvor (s) 25 v. Montgomery, J. Low,.. Venables (s) 18. TftE EASTER, TOURNAMENT. The local club is well represented in this year’s annual Easter tournament with eight teams. The teams on the whole are fairly well balanced and should give a good account of themselves. Although, the local tournament has been in vogue over 20 years it has not yet been the lot of a local link to secure the coveted honour. This Easter it is to be hoped the local teams will be more successful. To assist lojjal teams to get in a little team work the selection committee will, if requested, allow' tournament teams to play together on the remaining Saturdays prior to the date of the tournament. THE GREENS. AVith Easter only a little over a fortnight away every possible attention should be given tho greens during the intervening poriod, to bring them up to the best possible standard of play. It was, no doubt, a wise policy to-keep as heavy a sole of grass on the greens us possible during the drier months of January and February,’but the sting from Old Sol is now weakening and. with tho prospects of an occasional rainfall, the greens should bo kept cut down, During the past month the greens have been heavy, but with careful cutting and plenty of rolling, with a fully-weighted roller, they should be in fairly good ordy’r for the big event of the local bowling season.
