THE CAMBRIDGE CLUB. .... *' . : { OFFICIAL OPENING. > On ‘Saturday afternoon in ideal golfing weather tlio Oa'nibridge Club commenced its 1926 season with the official opening day. The opening ceremony was an enthusiastic one before a large attendance of members and friends. In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr 11. Hannon), the vice-president (Mr Arnold Wilkinson) officially opened the links with a short and appropriate speech. Mr. Wilkinson referred with regret to the absence of Mr and Mrs Hannon and paid a tribute to. their hospitality and interest in the welfare oMlic club. Later in the afternoon all present \4ere the guests c&fthe president and Mrs Hannon at afternoon tea. In the early part/of the afternoon mixed foursomes were played, the best cud, a net score of 38 -nine holes liOing rfcjj®rnef by Mb K. an-’ A. Wilkinson. After file tea adjournment an approaching and'putting competition was held, the winners being Mr H. P. Nelson and Mrs (Dr) Blundell, of Te Awamutu. Thu links are il very good heart and the prospects for the season are very bright. Several new members are coming forward.
