MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. HEAD-ON COLLISION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 12. In fast facing light, shortly after six o’clock on Saturday evening, a shocking accident occurred on the Great South Road at Manurewa, when two motor cycles ridden by young men collided in a head-on smash. One of the riders, Mr George’ Percy Gordon, aged 1 23, of Manurewa, died .in hospital during Saturday evening. OVER A CUFF. CAR DROPS 100 FEET. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE. \ WELLINGTON,. April 12. A startling experience befel Mr and Mrs G. P. H. Davidson, of Rawhiti Terrace, Kclburn, and their son, when returning home from a motor drive on Sunday afternoon, the closed ear in which they were driving rushing through the fence at the approach to the Kelburn viaduct and falling to. the bottom of the precipitous hillside, a distance of about 100 ft. CAR TURNS WHEELS UP. GOOD FORTUNE OF OCCUPANTS ESCAPE WITHOUT A SCRATCH / (By Telegraph—Press Association) NAPIER, this day. A motor accident which might have been attended with more serious results occurred on the Taupo road on Sunday at a sharp hill about 25 miles from Taupo, known as the “Aard Pinch.” 1 . A five-seater ear, driven by Mr Aldridge, of Auckland, and containing one passenger, was proceeding to Napier. In descending the “pinch,” the par failed to negotiate a sharp ben/1 at the bottom, with the result that it left the road and landed, wheels up, after a drop of about ten feet. > The occupants were pinned underneath, but managed to crawl out from the wreckage without a scratch. MOTOR CARS BURNED. * /EXPLOSION OF BENZINE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, Monday. A young man at Petone attempted to fill the tank of a car with benzine with the aid of a naked hurricane lamp. An explosion followed and he narrowly escaped death. A fire which resulted destroyed a shod auditive cars belonging to various residents.
