COLLECTING- THE KATES. V . IX WA3PA 'COUNTY, At fhe monthly meeting of the Waipa County Council yesterday the clerk presented a report on the financial position, showing a wonderful recovery from, what appeared an almost hopeless situation six weeks ago. . ()f the total .European rates collectable, with arrears, 87.18 per cent have been collected, as against 87 per cent last year. Nearly .93. per cent of the total 1 European current rates collectable have been paid. The total European arrears outstanding at April Ist •amounted to £5131 and of this sum £2672, or 52 per cent, have been , collected. Included in the 1921-25 arrears •still' outstanding there are several large individual amounts, and in one instance steps have had to be taken to sell, the property on which the arrears have accrued.
