At Westiield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in large numbers and sold under- steady competition fit late quotations. Extra choice ox sold to 33/ per lOOlbs; choice and prime ox from 20/ to 32/; ordinary and plain ox from 21/ to 25/ per lOOlbs; prime young cow and heifer beef 24/ to 28/ per lOOlbs; ordinary cow beef, 18/ to 23/: rough beef, 12/ to 17/; heavy prime steers sold at from £.12 10/ to £l4 5/; lighter, £.lO 15/ to £l2 7/6; light, £8 to £lO 10/; small and unfinished steers, £5 15/ to £7 15/; heavy prime young cows and heifers £7 15/ to £9 12/0; lighter, £0 to £7 10/; light, £4 to £5 15/; other cows, £1 10/ to £3 15/J bulls, £2 to £0 5/. Calves were penned in large numbers, and prices declined on last week's quotations.
