HUNTING
MEET AT THE NARROWS. SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON’S HUNTING. The popularity of the Waikato Hunt was again manifested on Saturday afternoon, when fully 50 members and enthusiasts as followers, and a considerable number of carloads of spectators, attended the meet at Mr Miller's, The Narrows, and participated in the most pleasant and interesting hunting experienced this season. Saturday was tlio first occasion, on which hunting had taken place in this locality, and the Hunt members and executive are grateful for the manner in which, the country was laid out for the pleasure of those taking part. Several very interesting runs were made over excellent country, on oue occasion the “little brown fellow" being run to' earth. Despite the wretched weather the hounds ran well, and commenced runs which only failed in complete success by the quantity of young grass. It. is distinctly encouraging to the executive and the members of the Hunt as a whole to note the kindly assistance and the unbounded hospitality of the district farmers who place their lands at the disposal of the Hunt. On Saturday a surprise awaited the meet the The Narrows when all present, before taking off, wore invited to a sit-down lunch by Mr and Mrs Miller. After the afternoon’s hunting concluded afternoon tea was partaken of at their hospitable hosts' residence when the appreciation of the guests for kindness shown was heartily voiced by the Master (Mr Wynn Brown) and members. Later in the evening Mr and Mrs Miller entertained a number of guests to an enjoyable evening, dancing being indulged in until midnight.
