ORPHANS' CLUB
MONTHLY GATHERING ENJOYABLE MEETING On Thursday night, despite counter attractions, there was a capital attendance at the Cambridge Orphans' Club meeting in the Oddfellows' Hall. In the unavoidable absence of President 11. W .Smales, through slight indisposition, Vice-president Bro. H. Harris occupied the chair. Apologies for nonattendance were received from several brothers.
A really excellent musical programme was keenly enjoyed by all present. Songs were contributed by Bros. W. Mabcrly, Fred Baker, T. Boyce, and Williams (Auckland), Mr Alf. Boyce contributed a pianoforte solo, Mr W. Muller a zither solo, and Messrs Maberly and Baker a vocal duet, every item being deservedly encored. Community singing, under the spirited and able leadership of Mr Fred. Baker, was entered into with great gusto, and keenly appreciated by all. The orchestra contributed very largely to the success of the evening's enjoyment, being in excellent form. Altogether the evening was most enjoyable, and was generally considered the best held this season.
