WAIKATO SEAT
A PROBABLE CANDIDATE EARLY IN THE FIELD Strong representations have. been made to Mr J. T. Johnson, of the Te Awaniutu district, to contest tho newly constituted Waikato electorate at the next general election. Mr Johnson is a dairy farmer, residing near Pirongia. He is chairman of the Te Awamutu Power Board, a member of the.Waip.a County Council, and a man who has taken a keen interest in local politics and public activities. A man of undoubted intogrity, and a straightforward, level-headed farmer, ho is assured of a big following. Mr Johnson was in Cambridge on Tuosday last, in company with Mr J. A. Young, M.P., and we understand that he received promises of support from a number of influential people. It seems practically certain that Mr Johnson will consent to nomination. He will support the Reform Party.
