BIG PALL IN PEICES MANY CATTLE, FEW BUYERS The prices realised at yesterday's fat stock market at Westfield conducted by -(Messrs Buckland and Son are reported to be the lowest experienced for many years. There was a comparatively largo yard of animals, but only' a limited demand by buyers, and all classes suffered, a severe drop in prices. In all COS cattle, comprising 526 steers, SO cows, and two bulls, were yarded, this being 67 in excess of the previous week, when the yarding was a heavy one.
Extra choice ox sold at £1 10/ per 1001 b: .choice and prime £1 4/ to £l' 9/; Ordinary and plain 19/ to £1 2/; rough 87 to 10/. Prime young cow and heifer £i.. to £1 5/; ordinary cows 16/ to 19/. ExVra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £ls 7/6 to £l6 each, the letter price being realised for a steer that came from Keid Bros., Op'jfiki. / Heavy prime brought from £3l £l3 17/6; lighter prime £S to £S 10/; light prime £5 10/ to £7 10/; small and unfinished £3 5/ to • £5. Heavy prime young cows and heifers ranged from £8 to £l2, which price was realised for a show cow from Opotoki; lighter prime cows brought from £4 10/ to £7; and others from £1 to £3 10/. . i „
