As will be seen by an announcement In our advertising columns, the Waikato musical, elocutionary and litdrary competitions will take place on September 23, 24. 25, and 26 in the Town Hall, Hamilton. Tha Waikato fixture is now regarded as one of the most important eventsof the kind among provin - cial towns and the syllabus for the 1912 competitions has been most carefully prepared, in all, 52 classes have been arranged, in which aspirants for competition honors can show their prowess. The judging will be in the capable hands of such experts as Mr H. Barry Coney (musical) and Mr H. E. Hunt (elocutionary and literary). Enquiries from likely candidates have already reached the Secretary from all parts of the Dominion and a record entry is likely to be secured. Local candidates to uphold the prestige of the Waikato will, it is hoped, also show up in good numbers. Copies of the syllabus and other particulars of the competition may be obtained from Mr E. J. Wlikinson, Cambridge, or from the Secretary (Mr N. G. Gribblc) at Hamilton, Entries close on August 31.
