Nothing Was saved 1 from the flames. j VALUATION OF LAND. Pauiatua. This Day,, The County Council passed a resolution protesting against the manner in which valuations of land arc made, and alleging they are too frequent. It was asserted that prices were being forced to fictitious values by spcculatiors, and valuations were based on the results. Their operations were to the detriment of legitimate farmers. THE ELINGAMITE TREASURE. Auckland, This Day. The driver accompanying the expedition on the steamer Huia has obtained a further £IOO in gold from the wreck of the Elingamitc. Operations are now suspended for the winter.
