THE CHIMING CLOCK.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, —We are convinced that a 'large number of residents, in both Cambridge West and East, look forth with keen pleasure to the acquisition of a peal of bells over the new Post-office, and that they would be prepared to show their appreciation in a practical manner were they waited upon for contributions. The Chamber of Commerce (having taken upon itself the responsibility of collecting the amount stipulated for by the Government), now appeals individually to each and every resident who is interested in adding the above charming asset to our already attractive town, to kindly notify either of the undersigned the amount they are prepared to contribute towards the same. Any sum will be gratefully received and acknowledged. It is desirable the required anfount should be raised by spontaneous contributions in preference to a canvass.—We are, &c., J. H. Hammond, President, E. Veale, Secretary, ) Chamber of Commerce.
