New Zealand’s co-operative workers on State works aggregated 5987 at the end of last month, and of that total only 183 were artisans. The Department of Roads Works Department 3689 men (in eluding Trunk railway works, absorbed 43 artisans and 1414 labourers, the Springfield section of the Midland railway 350 men, the Otago Central 386 men and the Blenheim-Wapawa railway 355.
